Virtual reality is finally going to get serious!

Serious Sam games have been delighting shooter fans since the franchise made its debut in 2001, appearing on a wide range of platforms that includes not just the PC, but also the GameCube, Xbox, and even the Game Boy Advance. The next step for the series is VR, and this week the developers at Croteam announced that Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope is ready to launch on Steam Early Access.
According to a press release issued today, Serious Sam VR will launch on Steam Early Access on October 17, 2016, with an MSRP of $39.99. The game is being published by Devolver Digital and supports HTC Vive. Oculus Rift support is also planned, once the Oculus Touch controllers become available at retail.
The new release will allow you to “immerse yourself in the universe of Serious Sam” in a way that was never before possible. You’ll have several missions available, so you can select one and get started almost immediately. There are aliens to blast, guns to gather, and a whole galaxy to explore.
“With new enemies and old favorites, players will pick up and master a variety of increasingly insane weaponry – this is serious business, after all,” notes the press release. “Use your power ups to navigate your skill tree to be the boldest, biggest and most virtual Sam you can be. Customize or upgrade your gear on the Saratoga battlecruiser in-between missions using in-game currency that has nothing to do with real-world currency.”
