By itself, the name P·O·L·L·E·N doesn’t readily bring to mind atmospheric, suspenseful sci-fi exploration, and yet that’s exactly what the game provides. If you’d like to experience its unique blend for yourself, you can do so today by streaming the title to your SHIELD device, using GeForce NOW (free for three months and just $7.99 after that).
“Inspired by science-fiction classics such as Solaris, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the Moon, P·O·L·L·E·N’s retro futuristic world is an incredibly detailed, living-breathing environment, that feels every bit as real as the one around you,” notes the game listing.
In P·O·L·L·E·N, you assume the role of a space mechanic working on Station M, which is located on the moon. The game was designed to accurately simulate a real space station, which means plenty of points of potential interaction that might serve as the solution to a challenging puzzle or two.
Plot is another key selling point, with the publisher indicating that you’ll be able to find new narrative layers on multiple playthroughs. Discovering what lies beneath the surface of Titan will certainly be no easy task. Your journey will be filled with intrigue, and the hope is that it will stay with you long after you finally stop playing.
P·O·L·L·E·N is published by Mindfield Games, and features full controller support. The title was also released for PC just over a month ago. Usgamer’s Bob Mackey notes in his glowing review for that version of the game that it “goes to great lengths to be more than just a tour through a sterile museum of content.”
