Taiwanese hardware manufacturer ASUS announced Monday that the latest version of the Android operating system (“Jelly Bean” 4.2) is now available for the Transformer Pad TF300. While Android 4.2 initially launched on November 13, 2012, the Transformer Pad is still one of the few Android devices to support the update, with others being the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10.

Currently, the new Android update is only available to TF300 owners within the United States, but ASUS noted in Monday’s press release that it will release the update in regions outside the U.S. during the month of March.

Android 4.2, which can be downloaded as a free over the air update, delivers TF300 owners a number of improvements over previous versions of the OS including enhanced stability and support for new features like multiple user account logins.

ASUS also explained that Android 4.2 will be available for additional ASUS devices in Q2 2013 (April 1 to June 30) including the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T, MeMO Pad Smart ME301T 10-inch and MeMo Pad ME172V.
