Although Stitcher Radio is arguably the most popular podcast app on Google Play, there's more than a few worthy alternatives to be found for the Android community.

One immediate example is Pocket Casts, which has just gotten a slick new "Holo" update for Android.

Sporting a complete facelift from its previous version (which was little more than a port from the iOS release), Pocket Casts now supports cloud syncing with all your podcasts and subscribed shows, as well as smarter self-building playlists.

It also packs a variety of options to manipulate the playback, including a 10-second rewind, 30-second skip-forward and a sliding-scale speed adjustment for the audio itself.

But most impressive is the brand-new UI, which adheres to all the Android 4.0 stylings with swipeable menus and clean, easy-to-organize menu density.

Pocket Casts is downloadable right now for $3.99 at Google Play for any smartphone or tablet with Android 2.3 or better—although the newer your device, the better the app will most likely run.
