One great aspect of the mobile market's recent surge is an overabundance of quailty RPG titles.
It's also fair to say that role-playing games have arguably never been as popular as they are now, thanks to the explosion of gaming apps on tablets and smartphones. But even with all the new titles currently filling up Google Play, there's nothing quite like the classics.
That's why we're giving Square Enix's Chrono Trigger—one of the greatest video games of all time—our official nod as 2012's best Android port.
Even with a somewhat steep $10 price tag, the money is well worth it for such a brilliant adventure, especially since a new copy of the game will generally cost you $20 for the Nintendo DS.
(Or, a whopping $100 if you want the original Super Nintendo cartridge.)
In addition to the core experience, Chrono Trigger also got a worthy refit for Android, with streamlined menus and adaptable touch controls designed to make the best use out of any mobile device.
Following the footsteps of Chrono, Marle, Lucca and the rest of the gang in a time-traveling challenge to save the world simply doesn't get old, and with so many multiple endings, you can play it dozens of times.
NVision's own Ryan Scott highly recommends it as well, saying that Chrono Trigger is "the best $9.99 you'll spend on a game all year." Its brilliantly-developed cast and gripping story remains a solid notch above most modern games, making it a smart buy for anyone who hasn't played it.
Stay tuned for more of NVision's favorite games of 2012!
