One of the most interesting mechanics in Irrational Games' upcoming action game BioShock Infinite isn't the graphics or the guns, but just the simple sensation of soaring through the sky.
In fact, the Sky-Hook gadget—a gauntlet that hooks onto the widespread railings around the floating city of Columbia—is commonly being considered the titular weapon of BioShock Infinite, much like the iconic Hidden Blades were for Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed saga.
Now, both weapons have yet another thing in common, as GameStop is taking preorders for the Sky-Hook.
Although it definitely won't support your weight if you try to use it for fast transit (a concept explained by Irrational Games director Ken Levine), the realistic-looking weapon-slash-tool should nonetheless be an excellent prop for any cosplay or Halloween outfit.
All those leather trappings and moving parts aren't cheap, though.
GameStop's asking price for the Sky-Hook is a rather princely $79.99 (before tax), so no matter how realistic the gadget looks, you would probably be best-suited not testing the build quality in a fight or on any sort of zipline.
