If you’re the sort who looks forward to cutting people up with a chainsaw, leaving nothing but pools of blood in your wake—in a video game, we mean—then you should probably be very excited for the release of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. It is scheduled to happen tomorrow on Steam and select consoles.
“Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the brutal conclusion to the Hotline Miami saga,” reads the product page, “set against a backdrop of escalating violence and retribution over spilled blood in the original game.”
The impending release leaves precious little time to pre-order the game and receive a promotional 10% discount. The standard edition with the noted savings is available for $13.49, while a digital special edition that includes six music tracks from M|O|O|N, Scattle, and Carpenter Brut is $17.99 on sale.
“Dennation Games and Devolver Digital have also partnered with Overkill Software to introduce exclusive new Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number masks and a ‘Jacket’ character pack for Payday 2 free to owners of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number and the Digital Special Edition,” the game’s publisher, Devolver Digital, previously stated in a press release.
Of course, all of those extras are just icing on the cake. The main draw is the violent gameplay, which is surprisingly intense given the retro vibe the game has working on its behalf.
“Follow the paths of several distinct factions—each with their own questionable methods and uncertain motivations—as unforeseen consequences intersect and reality once again slips back into a brilliant haze of neon and bloodshed,” the game description reads.
Does that sound like the sort of experience you can get behind? If so, look for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number starting tomorrow, on Steam, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. If nothing else, it should give you something gruesome to do with a digital chainsaw.
