There’s a mysterious man in town, and you likely would recognize him if you were to spot him skulking in the shadows. He’s bald and most commonly wears a black suit with a red tie. He calls himself Agent 47, and he’s the star of a game called Hitman: Absolution. You can play it today on your NVIDIA SHIELD device, streaming via GeForce NOW.
Originally released on PC in late 2012, Hitman: Absolution was well received by critics at the time. The PC edition currently boasts a Metascore of 79, after 26 reviews.
Hardcore Gamer writes that Hitman: Absolution is “a magnificent achievement that goes well beyond expectations,” while IGN’s review praises it for reminding players that “trial and error done right equals satisfaction, not frustration.”
Hitman: Absolution has a variety of features, including a cinematic story and a Contracts mode that lets you put together your own challenges by selecting the stage, targets, weapons, and rules for assassination. As you clear the various stages, you’ll be able to use multiple techniques to meet objectives, and don numerous disguises in order to escape detection.
“For the first time,” said Tore Blystand, the game’s director, ahead of its release, “we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy. This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world.”
Judging by the positive response from fans, Hitman: Absolution achieved its developers’ goals, which makes this the perfect time to experience the franchise. A physical release for its follow-up is due to reach PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in January of 2017, and this is your opportunity to start training for the assignments to follow. Good assassination skills don’t just develop overnight, after all.
